Muffy Styler
Muffy Styler is a singer, vaudevillian, and musician from NYC who was born into a theater family. Her father, David Mitchell, was a Broadway set designer. Muffy grew up in NYC and after studying at The Experimental Theater Wing at NYC, she left for Europe to study classical voice.
Muffy performed throughout Europe in musicals and operetta before returning to NYC in 2006. She began singing and studying jazz in Germany and performing with pianist Phillip Carleston at various festivals.
Muffy also studied with and assisted the Cirque Du Soleil clown David Shiner and began creating her own characters combining music, clowning and vaudeville. With other NYC vaudevillians and musicians she co-founded the band The Maestrosities performing internationally including the KimTom Music and Clown festival in Shanghai.
Her solo show Love und Greed, a Weimar cabaret, was reviewed by Stephen Holden of the NYTimes as “Smart and theatrically savvy”.
Muffy founded her current project The Jazz Bastards, a jazz comedy troupe with whom she sings and plays at Jazz on Mondays at Bathtub Gin Speakeasy.
They were nominated for a MAC award.
She Emcees Slippery Sundays Burlesque at the Slipper Room.
Theater credits include: Off Bway: Outside Inn at 59East59, Sleep No More, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, Much Ado About Nothing, Iphigenia in Aulis, When Clowns Play Hamlet Europe: Dance of the Vampires, Hair, Falsettos, Dames at Sea, The Rocky Horror Show, Fame, A Christmas Carol, Jekyll and Hyde.Muffy studied voice with the late Barbara Maier Gustern.
