The Chapel Restoration seeks a dynamic, organized, and entrepreneurial Part Time Executive Director to lead the organization’s operations and guide its continued growth. Working closely with an engaged Board of Directors, the Executive Director will support the board committees in programming, administration, fundraising, financial stewardship, and care of the building and grounds.
This is a hands-on leadership role well suited to someone who values historic preservation, the performing arts, and community engagement, and who enjoys balancing strategic vision with practical execution in a small, mission-driven organization.
Key Responsibilities
Organizational Leadership & Operations
- Oversee the daily operations and activities of the Chapel, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning
- Partner with the Board Chair and Executive Committee to develop and implement short- and long-term organizational goals
- Prepare quarterly reports and an annual report for the Board and participate in Board meetings
- Support Board members in hosting and producing on site Chapel events
Programming & Community Engagement
- Support Board Committees – including, but not limited to, Program, Grounds, Development/Fundraising – with planning, communication, and implementation efforts
- Oversee and help expand arts and cultural programming for community members of all ages
- Coordinate in person event logistics, ticketing, and artist relations
- Maintain and grow the Chapel’s presence within the Hudson Valley arts and cultural landscape
Fundraising & Development
- Lead fundraising initiatives, including an annual benefit event and annual appeal (online and mailed)
- Help identify new funding opportunities, including grants and individual donors
- Maintain donor records and ensure timely acknowledgment of contributions
Financial Oversight & Administration
- Work with the Treasurer and accountant to oversee financial operations and ensure regulatory compliance
- Maintain accurate financial records and manage accounts payable and receivable
- Monitor bank and investment accounts and prepare regular financial reports for the Board
- Assist with annual budgeting and preparation of materials for tax filings
Communications & Systems
- Maintain ticketing platforms (Eventbrite) and donor databases
- Keep the Chapel’s website, social media, and email communications up to date
- Manage basic administrative systems including mail, office supplies, and records
Facilities & Grounds
- Collaborate with the Buildings and Grounds Committee to maintain the Chapel, chancery, and surrounding property
- Ensure the site is welcoming, organized, and event-ready
Qualifications
- Strong organizational, administrative and leadership skills
- Experience in nonprofit management, arts administration, or a related field preferred
- Comfort with basic financial oversight and recordkeeping (with professional support)
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Passion for historic preservation, the arts, and community-based organizations
- Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with a volunteer board
Compensation: Salary range is 35K-40K per year, commensurate with experience. Roughly 20-25 hours a week.
